Petersburg Census Area, Alaska (02-195) had a legal status change resulting in a name change to Petersburg Borough, Alaska (02-195), and added some territory from the Hoonah-Angoon Census Area. Its FIPS State and FIPS County codes remain the same.
Bedford City, Virginia changed its legal status to town, ending its independent city status (county equivalent), and was absorbed as a municipality within Bedford County, Virginia. Its former FIPS State and FIPS County codes 51-515 have ceased to exist.
The FY 2014 budget for the Department of Commerce and the Census Bureau reflects an effort to balance the desire to fund the many important statistical programs and services the Census Bureau provides within the current budget environment. That effort required the U.S. Census Bureau to make some difficult resource allocation decisions, which unfortunately resulted in the suspension of the Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS) in 2014.
As a result, the 2014 ACS estimates do not reflect boundary updates from legal annexations, but new incorporations, disincorporations and legal name changes are included.
For more information, please visit the Suspension of the 2014 BAS page.
