JAN. 26, 2023 — The U.S. Census Bureau today released 5-year national and regional geographic mobility and migration estimates from the 2020 Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).
The newly released table package includes estimates of geographic mobility, including detailed information about types of moves from one location of residence to another during the previous 5 years, and characteristics of people who moved.
The Census Bureau collects, produces and publishes a range of statistics on geographic mobility and migration using multiple data sources. More information about these data sources and estimates is available on our Migration/Geographic Mobility webpage. The 2020 CPS ASEC data were largely collected during the COVID-19 pandemic and may have been affected by pandemic-related survey operations and nonresponse changes.
