OCT. 15, 2020 — The U.S. Census Bureau updated the Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) statistics with the release of earnings tabulations for four more higher education systems: the City University of New York (CUNY), the State University of New York (SUNY), Pennsylvania State University, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The addition of these new higher education systems increases the number of institutions represented in the PSEO from 47 to 243.

The Census Bureau has updated the PSEO visualization tool to include these institutions, and enhanced the search features for specific majors. With this release, PSEO will also be available on the Census Bureau’s application programming interface.  

PSEO tabulations show earnings and employment outcomes for graduates of post-secondary institutions in the United States, and are generated by linking graduate transcript records to Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) data. The pilot release of earnings outcomes includes earnings by institution, degree field, degree level, and graduation cohort for 1, 5 and 10 years after graduation. This offers prospective students a comprehensive assessment tool to see how much money they could earn by degree and institution nationwide.

The Census Bureau conducts the PSEO in cooperation with higher education institutional systems to examine college degree attainment and graduate earnings. Additional higher education institutions will be included in the database in the coming months, and PSEO is actively working on expanding the number of institutions represented.
