Based on input from federal agencies, the Census Bureau identified topics on the American Community Survey (ACS) that may require changes or additions. To evaluate these potential changes, new or modified questions are pretested using cognitive testing methods. As part of the 2022 ACS Content Test, the Census Bureau contracted with RTI International to conduct cognitive testing of potential questions related to the following topics:
RTI conducted cognitive interviews in English and Spanish in two rounds. For Round 1, 137 cognitive interviews were completed and in Round 2, 193 cognitive interviews were completed. This report summarizes the results from these two rounds of cognitive testing.
