Presents, in succinct style and accompanied by illustrative graphs and tables, information on a variety of demographic, social, and economic topics.
The report contains information on households and families; marital status and living arrangements; marriage, divorce, and remarriage; family break-up; geographic mobility; school enrollment; educational attainment; labor force and occupation; money income; poverty; government program participation; and health insurance. In addition, information is furnished on national, State, and urban/rural population, as well as on the Black, Hispanic origin, Asian and Pacific Islander, foreign-born, and elderly population.
The statistics are based on the 1990 Census of Population and Housing, the Current Population Survey (CPS), and the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP).
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
