Provides statistics on social, and economic characteristics, based on the Current Population Survey and the Survey of Income and Program Participation.
This report gives information on the following topics: school enrollment, educational attainment, households and families, marital status and living arrangements, child care arrangements, need for assistance with everyday activities, labor force and occupation, money income, poverty, household wealth and asset ownership, and the elderly population.
The publication also includes charts, which depict selected aspects of the data provided in the text, and summary tables, which show selected national demographic, social, and economic characteristics for 1970 and annually from 1980 to 1990.
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
