This report presents data on the wealth of U.S. households in 1988. The data are from the 1986 and 1987 panels of the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) and represent information collected in January 1988 through May of 1988. SIPP collects asset and liability data on a regular basis in a supplement to the survey. The purpose of the SIPP wealth module is to collect data in order to provide the basis for determining eligibility for certain government assistance programs and to provide indicators of economic well-being.
