Provides statistics on demographic, social, and economic characteristics.
This report includes sections on population trends, age and sex structure, and social characteristics' such as living arrangements, marital status, fertility, birth expectations, school enrollment, and educational attainment. Labor force, employment status, occupation, industry, income, and poverty status of persons and families are also covered, along with the elderly population and national population projections.
These subjects are frequently cross-classified by one or more of the following: sex, age, family status, and household relationship. Information on selected characteristics by race and Spanish origin is also included.
In addition, the publication contains charts, which depict selected aspects of the data provided in the text and tables, and summary tables, which show selected national demographic, social, and economic characteristics annually for 1970 through 1982.
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
