This is the ninth in a series of 11 monographs issued from the Fourteenth Census, taken in the year 1920, designed to include analysis and interpretation of important subjects covered by the census.
Monograph IX presents a comprehensive statistical analysis of the occupational data on women obtained during the 1920 Census. The contributions of women to economic production are substantial and an important element in industrial progress.
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
