This is a final Census Report on Vital Statistics of the Twelfth Census, taken in the year 1900.
Part II, which constitutes Volume IV of the Census Reports, contains population and deaths at each census, 1850 to 1900, and general tables giving the statistics of deaths by cause, sex, color and race, general and parent nativity, age and sex, birthplace of mothers, and month of death in various combinations.
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
